Makatoddlers – Toddler Signing Classes (1 – 3 years)

Makatoddlers is a new 10 week signing and creative program, aimed at children 1 to 3 years old, combing the signs and symbols of Makaton with the creativity of Whiffle Pig.

The primary focus of Makatoddlers is for children to develop their language in a child-centred way so that it is motivating, engaging and most of all, fun. The Makaton signing vocabulary is taught through songs and music – anything from emotions, farm animals and jungle animals to daily routines and transport signs and much more, whilst also using arts and crafts to enhance the learning. All of which will help your child begin to express themselves and what they’d like. We also aim to adapt the course to the children who attend, making sure that we include their own likes and interests.

Makatoddlers is a 10-week course (each class is 40 minutes long) which allows us gradually to build up your child’s signing vocabulary. Course cost is £8 per session, which includes all learning and craft materials.

Sibling Policy

This class is designed for children aged 1-3 years, however we understand that older siblings may need to attend due to child care. Older siblings are welcome to attend class for a nominal charge of £2, which covers the cost of craft materials. Signing is most successful when the whole family participates, so having them attend Makatoddlers is a great way to get involved!
