What is Makaton?
Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to support communication. Signs are used, with speech, in spoken word order. This helps to provide extra information about what someone is saying. Using signs and symbols can help people who have no speech or whose speech is unclear.
Whiffle Pig offers a range of official Makaton workshops run by Annie, a licensed Regional Makaton Tutor (license ID 103521).
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic our training has now moved online via Zoom!
Sign up below for our Baby Makaton sessions. Signing for babies is a wonderful way to help your child communicate from an early age, and meet with other mums. Today over 100,000 children and adults use Makaton symbols and signs, either as their main method of communication or as a way to support speech. Sign up for all 6 sessions up front, and you will get your signing booklet after the first session
If you’re interested in booking a Makaton Taster Session after we reopen for courses in real life, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. For organisations requiring a course for staff teams or groups of parents, please contact us using the details above to discuss your training requirements.
